Position Title: MVP Recruitment Assistant

General Terms of Employment:
For the fall semester: 10 hours per week, beginning November 2022. Does not include the week of Thanksgiving break or Winter break.
For the spring semester: 5-10 hours per week, beginning January 17, 2023, and ending May 2023. Does not include the week of Spring Break.
Compensation:
$10.00 per hour
Program Background:
The Multicultural Vision Program (MVP) Award grants one hundred scholarships in the amount of tuition to incoming first-year students, who are U.S. Citizens or permanent residents, residents of the state of Iowa and self-identify as: African American, Asian, Pacific Islander, Desi American, Latinx, Native American/Alaskan Native or Multiracial, on the application for undergraduate admission; or who have participated in a federally funded Educational Talent Search or Upward Bound program. Students will also demonstrate academic potential in ways that go beyond class ranking or test scores.
The scholarship is renewable for a total of four years or eight semesters, provided the student maintains a cumulative 2.00 grade point average, completes and submits the FAFSA each year, and completes 24 new credit hours each academic year at the university.
The Multicultural Vision Program aims to enhance the ISU undergraduate experience by preparing students with the tools to be an agent of change in their community. It will also help them grow as a person by expanding their cultural awareness, building supportive relationships, and achieving academic success. The program is guided by five principles: Sense of Belonging, Social Involvement, Academic Success, Leadership Development and Community Engagement.
Position Duties:
The MVP Scholarship program serves high need underrepresented students who have faced personal and/or financial challenges or hardships. This position will provide an opportunity for an undergraduate student to gain experience in a variety of areas surrounding recruitment, administration, event planning, and outreach. The MVP Recruitment Assistant will acquire knowledge of publicity, scholarship recruitment, scholars' selection, student advising, programming, and various other administrative responsibilities. Specific responsibilities of this position include:
Assist with in-state recruitment initiatives for the 2023-2024 MVP Cohort
Coordinate with various campus partners and/or state high schools to identify and recruit approximately 100 underrepresented first-year students who have faced personal and/or financial challenges or hardships
Plan and facilitate monthly recruitment initiatives in-person and/or virtual
Connect with incoming first-year students to talk about appropriate next steps to successfully accept the MVP Scholarship Award for 2023-2024
Other duties as assigned
General Qualifications:
Must be a full-time, degree-seeking undergraduate student
Must be a second, third, or fourth-year undergraduate student
Maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5
Exhibit proficiency in written and oral communication
Strong management and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to applicants who are MVP Scholars
