Club Spotlight

Culturally-based organizations grew at a time period in which students weren’t allowed to join some sororities and fraternities. The need for a space for minorities in college was expressed through the creation of organizations focused on their identity. This led to the creation of different culturally-based and identity-based organizations. Now there is over 100 culturally-based sororities and fraternities across the nation, that make up the sorority and fraternity community.

The Black Student Alliance traveled to Texas this spring for the Big XII Conference on Black Student Government

The Big XII Conference on Black Student Government is a organization composed of Big XII schools such as Iowa State, Mizzou(founding school), K-State, University of Kansas, Oklahoma State, University of Oklahoma, University of Texas at Austin, Baylor University and newly added Texas Tech.

What is MGC and why its important and unique The Multicultural Greek Council is made up of nine sorority and fraternities. Which include:

“SJ2750 is an elite group of students charged with identifying and addressing a large social justice concern on Iowa State’s campus. You will work alongside one another and University administrators to move the conversation, to bring things in the shadows to light and to address systemic inequity.”

ISU Leaders in Education and Diversity is an education organization founded for preservice teachers or any other individuals who are interested in social justice issues in education.

Delta Phi Lambda Sorority Inc. (DPhiL or DFL) was founded on December 5, 1998 at Athens, Georgia by seven dedicated female leaders. DPhiL is a sorority that seeks to develop women into strong, independent leaders and advocate for Asian awareness within and outside our community. The Iowa State University Nu Chapter chartered back on March 1st, 2015 by eight lovely women.

Midwest African Student Organization Conference (MASOCON) was a three day event organized primarily for professional and leadership opportunities ranging from social interaction, entertainment and networking all in one weekend at Ohio State University in Columbus Ohio.
