2023-24 Multicultural Student Scholarships
For each of these scholarship awards below, students must complete a scholarship application by the deadline to be considered.
The awards will be distributed for the 2023-2024 academic year.
APPLY IN ONEAPP
Crazy Horse Scholarship
Award: $2,000
- Identify, on the application for admission, as a Native American Undergraduate student (first preference given to Native American/Indigenous students from reservations)
Donald Kane Smith Scholarship
Award (multiple): $2,000
- Identify, on the application for admission, as an African-American/Black student
- Study in a technical field
- Be a sophomore, junior or senior as of fall 2023
- Demonstrate financial need (as determined by the Office of Student Financial Aid)
- Show degree progress
Herta David Minority Student Scholarship
Award: $2,000
- Identify, on the application for admission, as a multicultural student
- Be a sophomore, junior or senior as of fall 2023
- Have a 2.50 GPA at the time of application
- Demonstrate financial need (as determined by the Office of Student Financial Aid)
- Come from a challenging family background
Lawrence Shindel Scholarship
Award: $2,000
- Identify, on the application for admission, as a Native American, full-time undergraduate student
- Be a member of a federally recognized tribe
- Have documentation of being ¼ or more Native American/Indigenous
- Preference given to students who will be juniors or seniors as of fall 2023
Barnes & Mitchell Scholarship
Award: Varies
- Identify, on the application for admission, as a Black/African-American, full-time undergraduate student
- Preference given to incoming first-year students
Student Affairs Multicultural Student Scholarship
Award: Varies
- Identify, on the application for admission, as a multicultural student
- Show financial need
- Show academic aptitude
Cargill thrive Scholarship Program
Award: $2,500. $3,000, or $4,000

George Washington Carver Scholarship Program
Award: Full Tuition (8 semesters)
- Identify, on the application for admission, as a multicultural student
- Be a new student entering directly from high school

Academic Program for Excellence
Award: Summer tutition, fees, and room & Board
- Identify, on the application for admission, as a multicultural student
- Be a new student entering directly from high school

APPLICATION OUTSIDE ONEAPP
Multicultural Vision Program Scholarship
Award: Full Tuition (8 semesters)
- Identify, on the application for admission, as a multicultural student from the state of Iowa.
- Demonstrate financial need as determined by the FAFSA
- Be a new student entering directly from high school
